Welcome!

We don't show the way, we lend it to you.

Borrow from us by all means, then come back with interest – your own findings.

Share them with us, source them properly, and we'll all gain.

The pages in this regularly maintained database, arranged in family groups of parents and their children, describe a set of linked families, mainly originally from England.

Over the centuries there have been infusions from France, Germany, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Some of these, the Huguenots, fled terrible religious persecution. Others travelled in search of adventure or to make their fortunes (some successfully), including from the far south of present-day Germany – the northern fringes of old Swabia – and maybe Alsace too.

More recently, a fresh set joined the band from the old British Commonwealth: Australia (especially Tasmania and Victoria), Canada, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand, and South Africa. This is, we know, merely the tip of the iceberg: their living descendants all over the world – several thousand – cannot be represented in this public forum.

This is a resource, a free offering of everything we have discovered. Help yourself, and if you happen to be connected to any of these people, get in touch.

As members of this big family, we're keen to hear what is wrong, what is right, who's been left out, who's connected. Have a good look around. You might be surprised.

And in case you're wondering, it's the flag of Tasmania at the top.

WARNING

Always check everything. We do our best to be accurate, but we do make mistakes. Take nothing for granted.

ABOUT US

We're a group of cousins who stumbled across each other through our family history research, not having known of each others' existence. Together, but with a fair degree of assistance from paid professionals (to get round the costs and sweat of travelling huge distances), we've compiled these history pages for several linked families. So although we may not all share the same ancestry, members of our families do.

We believe in sharing what we know, rather than taking the regrettably all-too-common attitude: 'What's mine will never be yours'. However, if you intend to take whole pages, eg descent charts or family pages or notes on individuals, you MUST seek our consent through the address below. Please insert the word PERMISSION as the subject of your email.
