VILLE DE SENLIS, 2001
Eileen (Le Croissette) Younghusband wrote to the municipal library enquiring about the Senlis branch of the de Croisettes family. The reply, dated 18th September 2001 offered 4 possibilities:
An extract from a work by GUENÉE, B. Tribuneaux et gens de justice dans le bailliage de Senlis à la fin du Moyen-Age (vers 1380-vers 1550). Paris, 1963 (cote BM Senlis L SEN GUE). The index contains 'Croisettes' family references, plus another to a further work by B. Guenée: Le catalogue des gens de justice de Senlis et leurs Familles. They suggested this work might be found in the Beauvais archives but could not be sure.
An extract from: L'armorial senlisien de Charles Afforty, ed. Jean Tremblot. Ratigny, 1941. (Cote BM Senlis L SEN TRE. [The coat of arms above comes from this work.]
An extract from: Genéalogies des habitants de Senlis et environs et des registres des paroisses civil de Senlis. - 9 vol. + 2 tables.(Cote BM Senlis Manuscrit no 24). In one of the tables here the Croisettes family name appears. There are references in the main text giving information on different members of the family. As it would be a long task to chase out and verify these, this was left to Eileen to follow up.
The final document was sent in its entirety and formed part of handwritten documents left by Dr BERNARD GUENÉE [see above]. The archivist was unable to say what the origin was for the sources cited, but perhaps the original 'pièce' 934.
The municipal library was, the letter said, open from Tuesday to Saturday.
