Notes for Jane (Jean) CROCKET

General Note
Jane did not marry.

Her sister Margaret appears in the 1841 census for Caerlaverock as head of house, of independent means along with Jane, 55, and Janet, 50. Margaret is 65. All are unmarried. They are living in the family home of Castlewood Cottage, a 7-roomed house.

The 1861 census shows Jane living at Castlewood Cottage, a 7-roomed house at Caerlaverock, with her sister Janet, aged 74, and their niece Agnes, then 28 and also unmarried. The house belonged to Jane.

The valuation rolls for 1862/3 show that the owners and occupants of Castlewood Cottage were the Misses Crocket.
