Notes for Brenda Christine DANIEL

General Note
Brenda was an identical twin. Her middle name reflects that of her father's sister Christine. She had an older sister (living), her twin sister (living), a younger sister (living) and a younger brother (living).

Brenda was a talented linguist, fluent in Spanish and French. She went to the Orme Girls High School in Newcastle under Lyme, then when the family moved to Norwich after WWII to the Blythe Girls' Grammar School. She won a State Scholarship and went to Girton College, Cambridge, to study Spanish and French. She studied for an MA at the University of Essex and taught in girls' schools in Tonbridge and Wycombe.

She met her husband while on a year's teaching in Sweden. They had no children. After teaching at Birmingham University she left to join him in Paris where she worked as a translator for a reinsurance company. There she fell ill with breast cancer and after submitting to very early chemotherapy began to lose the struggle.

She returned to die in England at the age of 43. She was buried in Highcliffe on Sea, Dorset, churchyard. The ashes of Nell and Trevor, her parents, are interred with her.
