de CROISETTES VILLAGES AND FIEFS
Associated towns and villages cited in the Beauvais genealogy
From the genealogical archives of the Count of Clermont, established by M. Bosquillon (before 1756), Lieutenant General of the Bailiwick of Clermont and from the writings of Bernard Guenée
The de Croisettes records, assembled by M. Bosquillon, can be found on page 222, Volume VII, Collection Bucquet aux Cousteaux, property of Beauvais town, held in the Department of Oise archives.
The list of villages below has been assembled by reference to this document. Most lie in a cluster in the valley of the Thérain river, south east of Beauvais, several close to the old hamlet of Granville which still stands as a farm with an ancient tower near Hermes. Between Berthecourt and Mouchy-le-Chatel lies an area of woodland known as 'la Croisette' which might be linked with the family name.
Courtesy http://www.multimap.com/, the map below shows the general area, defined by the ellipse. The basic original de Croisettes patch seems to be close to Beauvais. Although we know the first two 'Jean de Croisettes' were in Senlis, their interests were heavily beyond this close to Beauvais. Was this were the de Croisettes started out? Sadly, if they were as humble as Bernard Guenée is suggesting, they would not have been landowners.
In the list below are the towns and villages mentioned in the literature on the family in the archives, Paris and Senlis records. Those linked directly with the de Croisettes, rather than with families they married into, are marked yellow:

Balets – linked by marriage, not known where, perhaps Baillet-en-France, between Paris and Beauvais.

Vaux, about 7 kms south of Montidier, just off the D45, between the D329 and the D935, alongside two other hamlets within a short distance: Le Frestoy-Vaux and Les Saules. It appears to be along the Rue de Marroniers.
Others areas with the 'Croisettes' name on the map, sometimes on forested areas, are near known linked villages. As it is on record, apparently, that the family made their money from timber, it seems possible that tracts of forest and woodland were identified locally by the name of the owner.
This chateau, which can be found on maps at Villers sous St Leu, labelled 'Anc. Chat.' is thought to lie just north of the Oise river north of Gouvieux, about 25 km west of Senlis and not far from Chantilly.
A further castle lies at Eve, and is the older of the two large buildings in that village, close to the Mairie and the church, and now a residential home for people with special needs.
Another ancient castle and fief lies at le Tillet. The castle is within the grounds of a rest home and an associate special needs school. Now a ruin, it can only be accessed on foot.
Other locations are further east in a broad area defined by Mondidier in the north, Soissons in the east, Senlis in the south and Beauvais in the west. Others are further north east towards the Picardie coast, a couple just south of Amiens.
