From the IGI. WM GREENWOOD - Male Christening: 10 FEB 1802 Barnsley, Yorkshire, England. These entries to be checked againt parish records. There ought to have been more births than this. Perhaps the 1802 William did not survive and they recycled his name. We know, for example, that there was another William Greenwood born in Barnsley in 1807-1809, as he appears in the 1861 census for Crow Hill, Ashton under Lyne. He is listed as a miller and farmer. However, as the file below shows, there was a 1802 birth that might fit. There is, however, an interesting Mormon Ancestral file online: Dr. William GREENWOOD Compact Disc #33 Pin #84916 Sex: M Event(s): Birth: abt 1802 Place: England Death: 6 Dec 1862 Place: Marriage(s): Spouse: Elizabeth WILLANS Disc #33 Pin #84917 Marriage: 13 Jun 1824 Place: St. Peter, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England Personal Information: Occupation:Doctor, Ramsden Street, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England Pity that family history did not include a reference to his parents. It is surprising that there appears to be no evidence from the British Medical Association on this man offered here. There are too many uncertainties, given the holes in the IGI, to take this further, alas. |
