| Married in 1927 in Settle. Ernest wrote a memoir of his life. He had rheumatic fever as a very young child. At the age of two, a coping stone fell on him and he became very poorly. As a result his heart was damaged. He reckoned he kept well by walking two lifhts of stairs to bed each night for sixty years. Said to be 'chauvinistic', due to having four elder sisters! |
