Birth registration Dec 1879 Poplar 1c 642. 1881 census: Percy G. ANDREWS Son Male 1
Stratford, Essex, England Dwelling Hainault Road Ward(s) Villa, Leyton, Essex, England. Percy
is shown at 1901 census living at South Shoebury with others of the Andrews family. He was
plainly working with the family firm, almost certainly Wicks and Andrews. His age is given
as 21. The family account gives Percy marrying Nell Smith, having one child, Timothy, born
in 1918, and leaving for South Africa. He joined with his brother in publishing in South Africa
after the war. The family tale is that they disagreed and split the partnership. Checking for marriage: Not 1914, 1915, 1916, 1917, 1918. Going back. He was married when Eunice was married and also when William Daniel came back from Penang, ie early 1915. So back from 1914. Not 1913, 1912, 1911, 1910, 1909, 1908 March 1907 Bethnal Green 1c 257. Not him. Nothing in 1907. Sept 1906 Croydon 2a 655 Not him. Nothing in 1906. The only marriage that looks vaguely right is this: Marriages Dec 1905 ANDREWS Herbert Sydney Braintree 4a 1416 SMITH Ellen Braintree 4a 1416 What about this name, then? |
