Notes for Olive Cynthia ANDREWS

General Note
A family source gives her date of marriage to Leonard Cattle as 14 November 1947. However, marriage certificate says otherwise, as shown on this site. It is unlikely she would have bothered with a register office marriage afterwards. She lived with Leonard at Riverside, Sunbury on Thames above the Phoenix pub in rooms that belonged to Hancocks butchery below. (The Hancocks enter the picture because the sister of Olives mother Rose, was Octavia Robinson and she married Leonard Hancock, that is the other branch of the familyt. They owned a family farm in Bramley and a chain of butcheries.)

They later moved to 8 Riverside, Sunbury on Thames, to a bungalow whose garden went down to the edge of the Thames.

Olive and Stanley left England in the 1950s with her family for New Zealand.

When Olive was born, the family were living at 42 Averley Road, Southend. Her mother Rose notified her birth on 26th July 1909. The registration was in the sub-district of Prittlewell, in the Rochford district of Essex.

Olive married aged 37 when working as a Welfare Officer (Allied Control Commission) Germany. She was living at 20 Embassy House, West End Lane, NW6. Her father was given as Ernest Charles Andrews, company director. The witnesses were Douglas P Jones and U W Parker.

In New Zealand, Olive and Stanley moved in their later years into their daughter's home, their son-in-law taking early retirement in order to help look after them. Olive died peacefully in her sleep in a nursing home after suffering several TIAs.
