Notes for Kathleen Marion DANIEL

General Note
Kathleen had no children. She went to Australia at the same time as her brother Trevor, and lived there with Trevor Daniel's friend Reginald Ellis, known as Reg. She was always known as 'Taffy' and did not accompany Annie Amelia and William, Trevor and Christine, to Penang, a fact she was believed always to have resented.

She appears in the 1901 census as a tiny girl with her parents and brother William at 1 Nemorne (should read Nemoure) Road, Acton.

Her birth was registered in the first quarter of 1900 at Hendon, 3a, p. 245. Her name is given there as Kathleen Marion Daniel whereas the middle name of her aunt Florence was spelled Marian. The family were living at Church Road, Willesden, North West London.

Her partner, Reginald Owen Ellis, was born 21st June 1903 in Harringay. He died 28 June 1955 in Revesby, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Math arrived in Australia in 1927. She met Reg a month later. He was a friend of her brother's. She lived variously in Coogee, Balgowah, Queenscliff, Harboard, Bellview Hill, Bondi, Revesby, Wambral and Kirrawee.

Before leaving England, she worked alongside Eunice, her aunt, in a canteen at the local aerodrome, jobs they obtained through Charles Gillard, chauffeur to the Chief Petty Officer. Later she wored on a farm, caring for the garden and the chickens. She was a keen cyclist and dog-lover, and once in Australia had her own kennels for boarding dogs at Revebsy. Until she moved into her final retirement unit at Kirrawee she had a dog, a cockerspaniel, according to family sources. She always said she would die under a blue-blossomed tree, having had a dream to that effect. Her unit in Kirrawee had just such a tree by the balcony.
