In the 1851 census for St Mary's Newington. He and his wife were living at 1 Rose Place, Newington St Mary. Eliza was 40, born in Pentonville. Their oldest child was 18, so they were probably married c. 1832/3, which ties up with the St Leonards date. William was a shoemaker. Still at home were George, John, Robert and Ann. Robert was 9 and born in Lambeth. They now state that Ann was born in Kensington (meant to be Kennington), John at St Mary's Lambeth and George in Lambeth. Eliza is referred to as Ellen. Her age is given as 46, born in Islington.
