He was born at 57 Medora Road, Brixton Hill and registered 20th September 1887. His son gives
his middle name as Marc, not Mark. Alfred appears in the 1901 census, aged 13, born in Brixton, living in Lambeth with his parents and his two brothers Herbert and Laurence. His brother Frederick has left home and is working as Frederick Cross, commercial clerk. Alfred married a 20-year-old bride when he was 29. The witnesses were Harold Alexander Rand and Herbert Clark-Westfield. He went to Essex and worked in an amusement arcade business. His brother was in Westcliff. His son Laurie went to Australia. He died in the Southend-on-Sea general hospital and was described as living at 15 Arcadian Gardens, Hadleigh, a retired Radio and Television Engineer. He died of Carcinomatosis and carcinoma of the bladder. The informant was his daughter Eunice's husband, H. R. Bridge of Cliff Parade, Leigh-on-Sea. The puzzle is that his wife predeceased him and was said to be his widow. |
