If it is correct that Joseph died in 1845, leaving Sarah with a young family, she might have
remarried. The 1881 census shows her son in a household with Sarah Stubbins as a 'mother-in-law'. If she was widowed, she might be expected to be with a daughter, supposing she had not died. But no death has been found. However, there is some doubt about whether we have the correct family: there appeared to be other Kingham families in Bethnal Green in the same time-frame. It is also difficult to be certain which of many Sarah Ireland entries on the IGI (or not there at all) might be the right Sarah. Her marriage entry in the Parish records will need to be inspected. This baptism is in the right kind of area, and roughly feasible in terms dates: she would have been 18 years old on her marriage. 29 DEC 1816 Saint Olave, Southwark, London, England There are Sarah entries in the 1881 census that match this date of birth: Sarah Bailey, with a late son, Sarah MITCHEL Wife M Female 65 with a late son, Sarah Barker with a late son. |
