He was the 'Employer' and Head of House, Single, with a Widowed housekeeper Sarah Farnden, and a resident book shop assistant, the son of his housekeeper, Guy. Also there was the housekeeper's daughter as a boarder, a single girl of 16, Gladys Farnden. This was the page in the marriage entries for Fulham, not long after. She was a butcher's cashier, age 17, born in Bermondsey. She and her sister appeared in the 1891 census at home in Fulham with their family, father a fireman. In the 1911 census the family had moved to Christchurch (then Hampshire).
