Notes for Letitia Jane ANDREWS

General Note
LETITIA JANE ANDREWS - International Genealogical Index, parents John and Elizabeth. Gender: Female Christening: 15 OCT 1824 Saint Leonards, Shoreditch, London, England. She was not at home in the 1841 or 1851 censuses.

Tracing her has proved impossible as at August 2005. There was an 'L Andrews', female, living with a school mistress in Highbury Park N6 in the 1841 census for St Mary Islington East. It is hard to know what she was doing there, unless helping with the children.

However, it needs to be borne in mind that the names John and Elizabeth Andrews were not uncommon. This baptism might have been to a different couple. There were two Letitia Jane Andrews in the neighbourhood, but without sending for certificates it isn't possible to clarify which is which, and whether she survived at all. The Letitia Andrews found with the schoolmistress in the 1841 census might be the wrong one too.

Marriages Dec 1843 Andrews Letitia Lambeth 4 295 to either Bowler Friderick or Combe James Thomas or Foster John William or Pepper David John.

Or Marriages Sep 1855 Andrews Letitia Jane Camberwell Groombridge Richard Coleman Henry with whom a Letitia Andrews appears in the 1861 census, along with an 'Elizabeth Andrews, born in Northampton, 1799' which seems likely to disprove this one as our Letitia.

More likely: from the 1851 and 61 censuses, name should be HAYSLEP, maybe:

Elizabeth Haysley abt 1800 Bermondsey, Surrey, England Head Newington St Mary Surrey

Frederick Haysley abt 1815 Newington, Surrey, England Son [Brother, actually] Newington St Mary Surrey

Letitia Haysley abt 1823 Bloomsbury, Middlesex, England Wife Newington St
