A blacksmith, still at home in the 1871 census. He seems to disappear into thin air after this,
unless he died or emigrated, but this is because the enumerator for the 1881 census wrote the
incorrect place for his birth, ie Haughton, instead of South Normaton. William was born in
Shirland. He and his family are living at Cottage Common. By the 1891 census, George's wife has presented him with a further child, but then died, so that he remarries Elizabeth. The makeup of this household is a mystery. There is a boy called Thomas Airy, 'son' age 14, born in Ashton under Lyme. Elizabeth, who is 37 and comes from Heage, brings with her a little boy George Radford, also born in Heage age 3, and called 'son'. Herrod, George 1889 June Marriages Mansfield Radford, Elizabeth |
